Duration: 18 months with the possibility of extension  

About us

The Regulator is responsible for administrating the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Act 2012 (GEMS Act) including registrations, voluntary compliance, enquiries and activities relating to the development of regulated products and priorities.

 

The GEMS Registration and Outreach Section is responsible for outreach and compliance engagement activities through the energyrating.gov.au site and industry information and support tools. The Team forms part of the Energy Division which is at the forefront of policy design and program delivery to improve the efficiency, productivity, affordability and future-readiness of energy in Australia. We work with state and territory governments, businesses and industry to ensure energy consumers have confidence in the choices they make in how and when they use energy while achieving other environmental benefits.

 

About the role

The Communication Officer is responsible for the delivery of GEMS communications and outreach activities as related to assisting for industry achieve compliance in line with GEMS Regulations. This would include:

                     Industry communication, information and engagement to ensure voluntary participation and compliance with the GEMS program ensuring the development of energy efficient products.

                     Strategic management of activities to achieve our objectives by uplifting the energyrating.gov.au content, tools and communication channels to support industry participation and compliance.  The role would also be the lead on developing communications for the implementation of new or revised product determinations (i.e. Swimming Pool Pump requirements).

                     Development and maintenance of internal and external stakeholders relationships, including with key industry bodies and the regulated community (suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and trades).  This will include participation and delivery at trade and industry shows and through appropriate industry channels.

                     Communications support for the GEMS Compliance Team  (i.e. retailer and industry training packages and support information).

                     Support for the Energy Rating Label (ERL) forward work plan.

 

Skills

The successful candidate must

                     have experience in GovCMS or similar platform (i.e. Drupal) for content publishing

                     have experience in content and channel management

                     have the ability to interpret legal and technical documents.
