Finance/Contract Officer

The Department requires an ICT Finance Officer and Contract Officer to assist the Information Management and Technology Division (IMD) with their day-to-day operations of the team.


The position

Monitor section purchase orders, vendor information, contract reporting, support section budget activities and undertake related routine documentation and data processing. Undertake and support activities forming part of the department’s procurement cycle in a manner that aligns with the department’s procurement and contracting priorities and applicable legislation and policies.

The key duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform financial activities in accordance with the department, relevant legislation and whole of government policies and procedures and work to agreed priorities and outcomes.
  • Conduct relevant financial activities to ensure deadlines are met and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate and interrogate financial data to ensure the accuracy of financial information in reports and systems.
  • Investigate financial transactions and data to identify errors and identify and potentially initiate corrective actions.
  • Assess financial compliance assurance issues to design and recommend solutions.
  • Support funds availability assurance and associated drafting requirements to support Section 23s, relevant budgeting reporting and other correspondence on financial matters.
  • Confirm, coordinate and maintain the accuracy of financial information ensuring governance and compliance requirements to financial management frameworks are met.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to progress financial activities in accordance with department’s objectives.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and participate in teamwork and group activities.
  • Be an excellent communicator, both in the written and verbal forms across all agency levels. Your communication skills often lead to strengthening internal relationships.


  • 2+ years of experience in a Finance related position.
  • Certificate IV in Contracts and Procurement.
