The Network Engineer role is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the Department’s enterprise networks. The successful candidate will advise the network architecture on design decisions in addition to administering networks in accordance with existing security and system architectures, frameworks, industry best practices and Departmental standards.

The role is part of a collaborative and supportive team where contributing ideas, optimisation, documentation, and experimentation are encouraged. Working in a diverse team environment, this will involve sharing outcomes with others to support development and growth.


Required skills and experience

  • 4+ years experience
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper or equivalent enterprise route/switch platforms.
  • Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto or Juniper firewall platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation and share knowledge among colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience with Cisco Identity Service Engine or similar RADIUS platforms.
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking technologies such as SDWAN and ACI.
  • Experience with Public Cloud networking and connectivity.
  • Experience with working with Government organisations.
  • CCNP in Enterprise or Security or equivalent


  • Full time or Part time contracting is available.
  • Ad hoc domestic travel may be required
  • Support to priority areas, including agreed additional hours or emergency overtime duties, may be required on infrequent occasion.
