The Unified Communications Engineer role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of the Department’s Unified Communications infrastructure.

They will design and administer systems in accordance with agreed systems architecture, security framework, Department standards, and industry best practice.

A successful candidate will be open to innovation in technology and processes to adapt to the ever-changing environment.

Sustainment in this case is defined as supporting our existing systems and providing high-level troubleshooting support.


Required skills and abilities

  • 4+ years of experience
  • Experience in the design, implementation and support of Cisco Unified Communications appliances and session border controllers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation and share knowledge among colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail

Desirable skills and abilities

  • Experience with automated provisioning tools and automating processes via Cisco APIs such as PKI certificate renewal and user account creation and deletion.
  • Experience with attendant console products.
  • Experience with support of Hybrid WebEx Control Hub, WebEx endpoints.
  • Experience with Single Sign-On.
  • Experience with XMPP federation.
  • Experience with IVRs.
  • Experience with working in Government organisations.
  • A solid understanding of routing, switching and firewall concepts
  • ITOP – IT Infrastructure.
  • PRMG – Project Management
  • USUP – Incident Management

Desirable certifications

  • CCNP or CCEI in collaboration, ITIL, Project Management
