About the Role 

The Specialist Engineer will be responsible for operating, sustaining, and supporting the 1DD platform across both the Defence Protected Environment (DPE) and Defence Secret Environment (DSE). The 1DD platform is based on Cloudera, operating on Azure within the DPE and on‑premises within the DSE.

The role provides deep technical expertise to ensure the ongoing stability, performance, security, and compliance of the platform, and supports sustainment activities through defect resolution, minor enhancements, and operational support in accordance with agreed service models.

Skills/Experience 

The Specialist Engineer must demonstrate:

• Extensive knowledge and experience with 1DD platform technologies, including:

• Cloudera

• Neo4j

• InfoArchive

• Proven experience operating and sustaining complex platforms across cloud and on‑premises environments.

• Strong understanding of platform security, risk, and compliance requirements within classified environments.

• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within multi‑disciplinary technical teams.

• Demonstrated capability to apply deep technical expertise to resolve complex operational issues.

• Accountability for platform reliability, compliance, and sustainment outcomes.

• Ability to influence technical decisions and provide authoritative specialist advice within the engineering domain.

• Minimum NV2 security clearance
